Waiting Times For Driving Tests In Clare Longer Than National Average

Waiting times for driving tests in each of the Clare centres are longer than the national target.

The Road Safety Authority says some drivers here are waiting the best part of six months to be tested

The Road Safety Authority aims to have a national average waiting time for a driving test of no more than 10 weeks.

However, that target is currently being met in only four of its 48 centres nationwide.

It’s also being missed in all of the test centres here in Clare, with average waiting times of 11.8 weeks in Shannon and of 14.4 weeks in Kilrush.

People in Ennis are typically waiting 12.8 weeks – around 3 months – but the longest wait recorded in the county town is 23 weeks.

This is one of the highest figures of any town in Ireland.
