It comes as Ryanair has today launched its new Winter Schedule for Shannon for the 2023/24 season.

The new timetable will involve eighteen routes, six of which will have additional frequency namely, Alicante and Krakow which will both fly six days a week, while there will also be increased offerings on services to Krakow, Lanzarote, Malaga, Tenerife and Wroclaw.

Routes to Faro in Portugal and Liverpool meanwhile will now be available at Shannon throughout the traditional school holiday terms for the first time.

The development has been made possible by Ryanair’s addition of a third Boeing ‘Gamechanger’ Aircraft at the Clare base.

The High-Tec Gamechanger model will reduce CO2 emissions on its flights by 16%, noise emissions by 40% and will have the capacity to carry 4% more passengers.

The aircraft not only represents a $300m investment in Shannon but will now create a further 30 new pilot and cabin crew positions on site.

Ryanair Director of Marketing, Dara Brady says it’s an extremely exciting time for the Midwest region.

Ryanair has taken orders for 300 new Gamechanger Aircrafts which will be distributed across its worldwide portfolio of hangars by 2034.

Furthermore it’s envisaged that passenger traffic at Shannon Airport will rise to 1.4million per annum in the same timeframe.

After welcoming 14% more flyers between January and August of this year than in pre-pandemic levels , Shannon has enjoyed the best recovery of any airport in the country since the Covid-19 Pandemic.

Accompanied by the news that Delta Airlines will resume its daily outbound route to New York JFK this summer after a five year hiatus, it appears that the sky’s the limit for Shannon.
