Rise in Covid-19 Hospital Cases In Midwest But ICU Admissions Remain Unchanged

The number of people being treated in hospital for Covid-19 in the Midwest has risen today.

There are now 27 Covid patients at University Hospital Limerick, up from 20 on Christmas Eve, while the number in intensive care remains unchanged at 11.

Nationally, there are 426 patients hospitalised with the virus today, up 48 in 24 hours.

It comes as a Junior Minister has said the Government is “very concerned” about rising cases in recent days, with 13,800 reported yesterday.

Minister of State, Niall Collins, says the situation is very worrying.
