It’s hoped an upcoming study will demonstrate the need for and benefits of reopening Crusheen Railway Station.

Ennis consultancy Repucon Consulting has been hired to prepare a socio-economic study of the positive effects that would arise from the reopening the North Clare rail stop which has been closed to passenger traffic since 1976.

As of the most recent Census, Crusheen is the youngest village in the county, and the study will involve extensive community engagement with a particular focus on the village’s younger population.

Cathaoirleach of the Killaloe Municipal District and Fianna Fáil Councillor Tony O’Brien expects the report resulting from the study to show the level of desire for the station’s reopening within the community.
