New Service Will See Ennis Residents Living Within 400m Of A Bus Stop By 2025

A new intra town public transport system for Ennis will see 70% of residents living within 400m of a bus stop.

Following almost two years of collaboration, The National Transport Authority & Clare County Council have finalised the proffered routes for the Ennis Town Bus Service.

The preferred routes have recently been finalised and will traverse Ennis from the Lahinch Road to the Tulla Road, wih a second route operating from Clarecastle to Ballymaley via a town centre terminus at Friar’s Walk.

Meanwhile its hoped an additional route will come on stream providing frequent transport from Doora Industrial Estate to and from the town centre.

A detailed review and assessment of potential future stop locations has also been completed, while the bus fleet requirement and type for the town service has been identified.

The NTA says that 7 out of 10 Ennis residents will be situated within 400m of a bus stop with 9 out of 10 residents being within 800m of a bus stop.

It is proposed that the service will operate seven days a week for 18 hours daily while the NTA have provided an indicative implementation date of between January & March of 2025.

In the intervening period Ennis MD will conduct a series of phased commencement projects including a road safety audit, the issuing of a tender process for infrastructure installation and associated works and the launch of a marketing and promotion campaign.
