Housing Minister Suggests Multiple Unsewered Communities In Clare Could Receive Funding

The Housing Minister has suggested multiple unsewered communities in Clare could receive funding for wastewater infrastructure.

A €50 million pilot scheme was launched in April 2022 to provide water treatment facilities to rural communities across Ireland that are currently without these vital services.

It is understood that over 20 applications have been received by the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage, with Carrigaholt, Doolin, Spanish Point, Broadford and Cooraclare all understood to have applied.

In response to a parliamentary question from Meelick-based Fianna Fáil TD Cathal Crowe, Minister Darragh O’Brien says while he can’t confirm when the projects will be commenced, it is possible multiple developments could be approved within the same county.
