Gardaí Investigate Suspicious House Fire In Ennis

Gardaí in Ennis are investigating the circumstances of a fire at a house on the outskirts of the town which is believed to be suspicious.

Emergency services were alerted at around 3.45pm today when they received reports of a blaze at the house at Knockanean, Tulla Road adjacent to junction 13 on the M18 motorway.

Two units of Clare County Fire and Rescue Service from Ennis station and local Gardaí attended the scene. The National Ambulance Service was alerted but wasn’t required to attend the incident as the property was unoccupied at the time.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the building and brought the fire under control. The house suffered significant damage. The scene was preserved and a technical examination carried out.

A Garda spokesperson confirmed: “Gardaí are investigating a suspected criminal damage by fire incident that occurred at approximately 3:45pm at a residence on the Tulla Road in Ennis, County Clare.

The residence, which was significantly damaged, was unoccupied at the time of the incident. Local fire services extinguished the fire. Investigations are ongoing.”
