A Killaloe councillor has made a fresh call for farmers who are affected by ash dieback to be compensated by the state.
It comes after the Minister for Agriculture Charlie McConalogue’s claim that the government is prevented by EU law from compensating farmers who experience income loss.
However, the National IFA Forestry Committee has claimed that EU regulation permits government to reimburse people whose plants or trees are affected by disease if the plants or trees are a source of income.
