Farmers’ Protests Held in Clare In Support Of EU Colleagues

Members of the Irish Farmers’ Association (IFA) and other farmers have held protests this evening at three locations in Clare.

The gatherings have been taking place in every county following a decision by IFA National Council to show solidarity with protesting EU farmers.

The demonstrations, led by the IFA, have been held in support of farmers in France, Germany, Belgium and several other countries who have been protesting about over-regulation, onerous bureaucracy and income pressure.

Farmers in Clare, along with their tractors and machinery, parked on the N18 flyover at junction 5 Cratloe where they draped an IFA flag on the overpass.

Another group gathered on the flyover at junction 11 on the M18 at Latoon/Dromoland. Farmers were also due to gather at Duggan’s Pub on the R352 Ennis to Tulla Road near Spancilhill. The protests were scheduled to take place between 4.00pm and 6.00pm, the busiest time of the evening on the road network.
