Ennis GP Calls For More Proactive Measures To Tackle Childhood Obesity

An Ennis GP believes policies outside school gates must be implemented to effectively tackle the growing problem of childhood obesity.

It comes after the newly formed Health Promotion Alliance Ireland called on the government to take proactive steps, such as moving fast food shops away from education settings.

The HPAI told the Oireachtas Health Committee that government is stuck in a treatment trap where it focuses on providing more beds for more sick people instead of funding illness prevention programmes.
