€6 Million For Clare Roads And Greenways

€6 million in funding has been granted for Clare’s roads and greenways.

The funding has been issued by Transport Infrastructure Ireland as part of a €440 million investment in local authorities nationwide.

Clare County Council has received a total allocation of €6,035,946 from TII for works to be carried out on national roads, greenways and Active Travel Schemes in 2024.

Over €3.2 million of this will go towards capital investment, with pavement works on the N67 at Doonbeg and Cloonbony to Rineen benefitting to the tune of €1.2 million and €700,000, respectively.

Shannon Airport access on the N19 will also receive €500,000 under capital investment.

A €2.2 million allocation for greenway projects in Clare will see the West Clare Railway project from Kilrush to Kilkee receive an €800,000 funding boost while the Ennis to Ennistymon greenway has been allocated €650,000.

In addition, over €570,000 has been granted to this county’s local authority for protection and renewal works.

Looking at the national picture, Roscommon has received the highest allocation of almost €73 million while Limerick has been granted €39 million.
