Crotty’s Pub To Close Following 114 Years Of Service To Kilrush

A West Clare Publican says soaring bills and reduced footfall forced him to make the deeply regretful decision to close the doors of his beloved institution.

Crotty’s Pub, Restaurant and accommodation will cease trading on January 4th following 114 years of service to the local community and many visitors from across the county and far beyond.

Owner Martin McMahon claims his customer base fell by a third following the Covid-19 pandemic, while rising utility and insurance premiums, made the venture virtually impossible.

However he says, the memories, camaraderie and friendships forged at his premises in both good and bad times gone by will stay with him forever.
