Clare’s Green Party Senator Says Upgrading Vacant Stock Could Be Solution To Housing Crisis

Clare’s Green party representative is calling on the local authority to create a comprehensive data base of all vacant houses in the county to assess the possibility of bringing properties back into use.

Senator Róisín Garvey says more needs to be done to incentivise owners to upgrade empty houses as a means of increasing the supply of homes in the country.

The Inagh native also called for an examination of the absence of regulation on entire homes being used as Airbnb rentals in Clare – something she cites as contributing to the shortage in the availability of family homes.
