Clare Retained Firefighters Say Strike Escalation “An Opportunity” To Resolve Dispute

Clare’s retained firefighters say the latest escalation of their strike action gives the government “an opportunity” to resolve the ongoing industrial dispute.

It follows SIPTU’s announcement that from this Saturday morning at 8am, all fire stations will “go dark” which means crews will have no internal communications with local authority radio call centres.

The trade union says the escalation is an attempt to force the government to resume talks and vows that one station a week will close in each county if a resolution is not found by Saturday the 19th of August.
