Clare Gardaí Asking Motorists To Take Weather Into Account This Easter Bank Holiday Weekend

Clare Gardaí are imploring motorists to take weather and road conditions into account when embarking on their Easter Bank Holiday Weekend journeys.

55 people have lost their lives on Irish roads so far this year which is 13 more than on this date last year.

A survey carried out by the Road Safety Authority shows 45% of motorists travelling on 50km/h roads in 2023 were driving in excess of the speed limit.

With consistent rain expected throughout the weekend, Head of the Roads Policing Unit in the Clare-Tipperary Garda Division, Superintendent Eddie Golden says particularly in inclement weather, drivers mustn’t view speed limits as targets.
