Clare Dáil na nÓg Delegate Speaks Of “Rewarding Experience” Representing County’s Youth

An aspiring Clare public servant says it’s a “rewarding experience” to represent the county at the national youth parliament.

Ennis resident Isabel Gurure, who’s in her Leaving Cert year, is a member of Clare Comhairle na nÓg and was among the 165 delegates between the ages of 12 and 18 in attendance at yesterday’s meeting of Dáil na nÓg.

Minister of State for Mental Health Mary Butler gave an address at the meeting in the Dáil chamber which saw the issues of mental health services, body image and school stress debated.

The question of whether or not the voting age should be lowered was also discussed and Isabel says it’s vital young people’s voices are heard on the national stage.
