Gerry Garvey, a Businessman from Pallasgreen spoke to The Today Show about how he and his family were held hostage while their Co. Limerick home was robbed on Monday night. 51 year old Gerry, his wife and teenage children were terrorised in their home – when four armed raiders broke in and handcuffed Mr. Garvey, while pressing a shotgun to his head. They threatened to kill his daughter and forced the family to open a safe – before making their getaway with around four thousand euro. Two men have since been arrested. Gerry spoke of the events on Monday night and praised Gardai for their work.

Professor Colin McGuckin is the Director of the newly launched Adult Stem Cell Foundation of Ireland.  He’s also a Vatican Advisor on Stem Cells. Professor McGuckin spoke to Gavin Grace about how Ireland needs to look to the future to protect the population and be ready for new treatments. He says we cannot simply look back and say, ‘I wish we had prepared for that’. The foundation has been set up to provide awareness and information about adult stem cells, research, development and therapies; to support people in need of or undergoing stem cell therapy; and to support the development of an all-Ireland stem-cell bank and to support adult stem-cell research and development.
