Joe Wall of The Walls joined Gavin Grace on The Today Show this afternoon to talk about the band’s new album and how they’re fundraising to cover their production costs through www.fundit.ie The Walls new album “Stop the lights” is almost finished and due to be released on the 9th of March. It includes last summers radio hit Bird in a Cage and the just-released single Stop the Lights. This will be the Ennistymon group’s third album (not including the Stunning albums). “Fund it” is way for fans to be part of the process and contribute whatever they feel is appropriate in a secure way and you get handsomely rewarded for doing so by getting merchandise and special extras from the band.
 

Adrian O’Connor is a member of the Organising Committee for the annual Micho Russell Weekend. The Russell Memorial Weekend is a traditional festival held in Doolin on the last full weekend in February each year. The festival began in 1995 as a remembrance ceremony to Micho Russell, the world-famous traditional musician, and his brothers. The Russell Memorial Weekend’s aim is to host the best of traditional entertainment; to encourage musicians to revisit a source, recognise new talent, and to celebrate the rich musical legacy of Doolin. It kicks off tonight and runs throughout the weekend with plenty of live traditional music for all ages. This year’s highlight act is renowned singer Seán Keane. Deputy Editor of Irish Central in New York – Molly Muldoon joined the show for her weekly feature from the United States – Molly discussed the latest news from across the Atlantic, what’s affecting the Irish community stateside and what’s having an impact on us here at home.  This week she told Gavin about the end of an Irish institution over there – Riverdance.  The long running dance show is to end its tour of the States.  Molly also discussed how, on the run up to St. Patrick’s Day, the Irish community are voicing their concern on clothing, t-shirts and merchandise that’s being sold ahead of the event which is depicting the Irish as drunken and aggressive.

Former Galway Hurling Manager, Cyril Farrell spoke to The Today Show as this Saturday sees the first round of the National Hurling League – Clare Versus Limerick (7pm in the Gaelic Grounds in Limerick).
