Morning Focus Wednesday September 26

Over 17,000 Clare residents have yet to register their septic tanks, three days before the charge for doing so rises considerably
As of this Friday, the registration fee rises from five to fifty euro, yet despite this, the take-up rate in Clare and across the country remains low

On Wednesday’s Morning Focus John Cooke spoke with Paul Moroney, Senior Engineer in the Environment Section of Clare County Council
He said a final push is being made to encourage septic tank owners to register by this Friday
Registration costs just five euro until then but rises to fifty euro after that
All septic tanks must be registered by February of next year but reports suggest that only 20% of people with domestic treatment systems have done so at this stage

Kilfenora based Consultant Civil Engineer Michael Duffy also discussed this with John
