The firm charged with designing the new proposed Tesco store on the outskirts of Ennis has rejected claims it will decimate employment within the town centre.
Businesses people in Clare’s County Town have expressed fears that the project will be turned into a large scale shopping centre damaging the town centre in terms of jobs lost and businesses closed.
Plans for the project on a site at Tobartaoscain go on public display tomorrow with all interested parties urged to view them firsthand.
On Wednesday’s  Morning Focus John Cooke spoke with a number of people in connection to the proposed development
Joseph Doyle, Architect of Doyle Architects, Dublin described the genesis of the scheme and what type of design
The public are invited to an exhibition and information day in the Templegate Hotel on Thursday from 12pm- 8pm
Michael Leahy and John Dillane of the Ennis Chamber are opposing this development
They think it will draw jobs out of the town centre as Ennis cannot support two commercial centres and feel that such a development will detract from the experience of shopping in the medieval town of Ennis

Clare’s Government TD’s have backed calls for the need to keep Shannon Airport in state ownership but believe change is necessary if its to drive local economic development.
Fianna Fail Transport Spokesperson Timmy Dooley has called on all oireachtas representatives in the region to state their position on the future of Shannon, including possible privatisation or leasing.
It comes as the Transport Minister Leo Varadkar is awaiting a report from a consultancy firm appointed to look at the seperation of Shannon Cork and Dublin airport.
Michael McNamara of the Labour Party, Pat Breen of Fine Gael and Timmy Dooley, Fianna Fail Transport Spokesperson discussed this issue and the outcome of the Presidential Election and the referendums.

John O’Brien of the Tulla Road, Ennis is ivolved in alternative wind energy also joined John in studio
His enterprise focuses on micro generation and solar systems for small business and domestic use- John’s an electrician
He participated in the very successful first Open Fair in the West County Hotel – and was delighted with how it went 
This is a national movement of free, community-based talent exchanges, uniting people who have skills to offer with people who are in need of those skills
The Open (One Person Enterprise) Fair concept originated in the early 1990s with Rural Resettlement Ireland, a registered charity, and was run successfully in several counties around the country
It is now being revived and broadened as a counterbalance against the current recession
Open Fairs will be organised in collaboration with the Irish Vocational Education Association and other community groups, in venues such as schools, community halls, hotels etc, and presented free of charge in cities, towns and villages across the country
The Open Fair can be your first step towards self-employment
It is aimed at everyone from graphic designers to biscuit bakers, musicians to tax advisers, wood turners to surfing instructors
There is no charge to display your work and you keep any money you make.
