Yesterday the Taoiseach accused opposition politicians of engaging in "hysterical comment and sensational headlines" over the cost of rectifying septic tanks
Enda Kenny says the proposals from Government are "sensible" and ensure we comply with European directives
And he says that the registration charge of five euro for the first three months is "less than the price of a pint in many areas"
He was speaking during  rowdy scenes in the Dáil last evening

On Wednesday’s Morning Focus John Cooke was joined by consultant civil engineer Michael Duffy in Kilfenora to discuss the issue and answer listeners’ queries

On Monday evening Minister Hogan decided to set the registration fee at €5 instead of the proposed €50 for the first three months to act as an incentive for owners to register early and encouraged  people to register before the 30th June 2012 and avail of the lower fee
The deadline for registration is March 2013

Today marks the 5th anniversary of the official opening of the Cliffs of Moher Visitor Experience
A ceremony will take place later and Mayor of Clare Councillor Pat Hayes also will launch the 2012 Cliffs of Moher multilingual (10 languages) brochure and map, while a series of celebratory events will take place at the centre throughout the day
The visitor project was 17 years in the making, and has attracted over four million visitors since being officially opened in February 2007
The ‘Cliffs of Moher Visitor Experience’ project includes a state-of-the-art underground visitor centre building and substantial cliff edge improvement works

David McCormack, Principal of Killaloe Boys National School spoke with John about their concerns over increasing pupil numbers and staff losses in September
The school currently has a staff of 14- nine mainstream and remedial teachers, five special needs assistants but if the education cuts are implemented they are facing the prospect of just six or seven teachers and one SNA.

The STAR Awards recognise outstanding examples of adult education in Ireland
This year five Awards will be given – four provincial awards and one nationwide award- they will be announced on 20th of this month
