Clare Deputy Pat Breen was part of a delegation visit to the United States last week to meet with US business organisations, individual US businesses, Irish American organisations and networks, as well as Irish officials working for State agencies in the US and Irish Consulate staff to get their perspectives on trade

On Tuesday’s Morning Focus John Cooke spoke with Deputy Breen who also commented on the situation with the Corofin post office 

Corofin has been dealt a blow with news the Post Office in the North Clare village is set to close this evening
In a statement to Clare FM – a spoksperson said the situation was beyond their control following the sudden resignation of the postmaster
Social welfare services will now be transferred to Kilfenora Post office from tomorrow
Clare FM understands that the shop attached to the Post office is also set to close with all other post office services will be available transferred to Ennis 
An Post has confirmed to Clare FM that it will advertise for a new Post office service to operate in  the village and that the closure is temporary until a new premisies and postmaster can be found
Local Councillor Michael Kelly said people are shocked and worried.

Two men have been arrested by Gardaí following the discovery of a viable explosive device on the outskirts of Barefield last night
During a routine patrol officers stopped a car – which was acting suspiciously on the Ennis side of the village close to the M18 Motorway exit at around 1 o’clock
They then discovered what appeared to be a pipe bomb and the area was sealed off and the Army Bomb Squad called
The device has now been removed and the road reopened to traffic at around 6 am

Two Clare Ballet dancers will be performing in the Town Hall Theatre in Galway on Thursday and Friday
17 year old Siobhán Sexton from Ennis and 15 year old Aidan Walsh from Barefield
are both members of Youth Ballet West that was established in 2007 by Phyllis Hayes and Judith Sibley
Recognised and grant aided by the Arts Council, it aims to allow young gifted dancers from across the West of Ireland to develop their talent locally while remaining at their studies
Classes are free for these talented dancers aged between 13 and 23 who are selected during an audition process
Siobhan and Aiden joined John in studio to speak about their ambitions.
 
Clare ISPCA Warden Frankie Coote spoke about the ongoing problem of dog attacks- there have been quite a few in recent weeks
He urged people to keep their animals controlled before someone gets badly hurt or worse
