Morning Focus – Tuesday 19/12/17

The Tuesday show took on a festive feel, with live music in studio from the wonderful Clare soprano Helen Houlihan.

Helen performed some seasonal classics ahead of very special evening on Thursday at St Columba’s Church, Bindon Street Ennis, where she’ll be joined by tenor Owen Gilhooly, cellist Péter Sebestyén and pianist Richard McGrath.

The show opened with an interview with Dr John Hillery a consultant psychiatrist from West Clare who is calling for the huge support provided by family carers to be recognised by the government.

Then, there was a discussion of housing and homelessness when Gavin was joined on the line by Diarmaid O’Sullivan, Threshold’s western services manager and Jackie Bonfield of Midwest Simon.

After that, Nancy Kelly from Ennis joined Gavin with a novel idea. She’s looking to invite like-minded singletons who may be facing Christmas alone to join her for dinner at a hotel in town.

Money Doctor, John Lowe, was Gavin’s next guest when the topics he discussed include his new book. Listen back below:
