Tuesday’s Morning Focus brought listeners a mix of music, chat and news.

The show opened with the heart-warming story of a Miltown couple’s battle to have their family legally recognised. Fiona Whyte and Seán Malone had their twins in India, through surrogacy – an option which has no legal status in Ireland. This week, in a landmark ruling, Fiona secured legal guardianship of Donal and Ruby. The couple’s story is documented in their book, ‘Without a Doubt’. Listen back below:

The sharp increase in the number of assaults in Galway City was the next topic for discussion, with concerns for the safety of young people from this county socialising there. One of the options being mooted in the City of the Tribes is the closure of takeaways early to avoid large crowds congregating in the early hours of the morning. Pat spoke to Cllr Peter Keane who is proposing this. Listen back below:

The OPW has announced that it’s to fund flood protection measures for Clonlara in the hope of finally ending the hardship experienced by families there.
