On Thursday’s Morning Focus John Cooke discussed local government reform with Deputy Joe Carey of Fine Gael and County Councillors PJ Kelly of Fianna Fail, Brian Meaney of the Green Party, Paschal Fitzgerlad of the Labour Party, Independent Tommy Brennan and Joe Cooney of Fine Gael

Phil Hogan insists it will lead to more a more efficient service at local government level and will bring about savings of 420 million euro but the councillors expressed concern over the measures.

The Minister for Health Dr. James Reilly launched the Review of Seven Year Strategic Plan for the Development of Specialist Palliative Care Services in the Mid West Region 2004 -2011 at Milford Care Centre on Monday
The plan for the development of specialist palliative care services in the Mid West had 34 recommendations, 24 have been achieved, 6 have commenced and 4 require further attention
Maria Bridgeman, HSE Senior Operations Manager Primary Care Area 1 and Pat Quinlan,  Milford Care Centre Chief Executive had a word with John
They said it is recognised that today the Mid West has a palliative care service which is second to none and totally patient centred, which  is no less than they deserve.
 
Clare County Council’s Joint Policing Committee is holding a public meeting in Kildysart Community Centre this coming Monday at 6.30pm
The closing date for receipt of questions before the meeting is Friday as Joe Arkins,Ruan Councillor and Chairperson of the Joint Policing Committee explained.
