Mick says Joe Sheridan was definitely the inventor of the Irish coffee and that he first served it as far back as 1942 in Foynes. People would be coming in off the flying boats and they’d be very cold. One time he gave a cup of coffee to a woman but she said it wasn’t very nice. He put in a drop of whiskey and then she said it was a little bitter so he put in sugar and then he added the cream.
Mick had fantastic stories and memories of Shannon in its hay day of copious US Presidents, Arthur Miller and Marilyn Monroe
And we got a live tutorial in how to make the perfect Irish Coffee!

Lorraine Battersby, Ennis Trad Festival PRO joined John for a word ahead of the Ennis Trad Festival 2011 taking place from November 10th to 14th
