A 12-month pilot project, which will see the Air Corps provide dedicated aeromedical support to the HSE National Ambulance Service (NAS), has been launched
The pilot Emergency Aeromedical Service, which will have a particular focus on the west of Ireland, will begin on Monday 4 June, from Custume Barracks, Athlone
The Air Corps are providing an EC135 helicopter and personnel to fly and maintain the craft. The National Ambulance Service will be responsible for patient care, which will be provided by National Ambulance Service Advanced Paramedics
Dr Cathal O’Donnell- National Medical Director with the National Ambulance Service- had a word with John Cooke on Thursday’s Morning Focus about the criteria and what it means to people in Clare.

Kilbaha resident Ailish Connolly who is almost five months pregnant on her third child, gave her reaction saying not having fast access to a 24hour A&E is a huge concern to her
Katrina Morrison and Manuel DiLucia of Kilkee Search and Rescue also gave their reactions.

The ISPCC has just launched ‘Children believe what they are told’ campaign highlighting the impact of emotional abuse as the Childline statistics for 2011 revealed that 54,000 contacts were made to Childline around this specific issue
Emotional abuse is effecting children in communities all over Ireland and it’s a serious issue we need to talk about
If we can raise awareness of this issue and get people to start talking about it we can hopefully help our future generations

Mary Morrissey of the Clarecastle District Daycare Centre joined John in studio to talk about their fundraising walk taking place in June
Organiser Joe Lillis explained that it’s a scenic walk, run or jog taking place on Saturday June 9th
There are 2 routes of 10k and 6k- registration will take place at 10am at the Abby Hall, Clarecastle with the walk commencing at 11am from the Church car park – €10 per entry.
