Today on Morning Focus, we were joined on the line by Green Party Leader and outgoing TD for Dublin Bay South Eamon Ryan as he appeals for the election of Clare’s first Green TD.

The Green Party leader yesterday proclaimed that his party could take 15 seats in the next Dáil. As part of his plans for that, Ryan is hoping to oversee the election of Clare’s first Green Party TD. Cllr Róisín Garvey is the party’s candidate in this constituency.

Before that to open the show, we spoke to Cllr Cillian Murphy as a Kilkee wastewater treatment plan takes a step forward after the completion of an assessment of the environmental impact of it. It needed to be understood how the input of sewage into the protected area of the Kilkee Reefs Special Area of Conservation before the project could move on. That process has finished now and the green light has been given – with site location and route assessments the next stage.

Next on the show, Dr Rory Costello, Specialist in elector and legislative politics, University of Limerick joined us on the line as he has created a website that can tell you which general election candidate best matches your beliefs. It analyses the policies of the candidate and that of their party and matches it to your answers to a series of questions such as tax, immigration and moral issues.

Then on Morning Focus, we discussed the hopes of the restoration of the historic site, Hastings Collage, Illaunmanagh in Shannon. Hopes for the restoration of historic Shannon site. It was one of a number of safe houses used during the War of Independence and was once used to keep a high ranking British officer imprisoned. The heritage organisation – Duchas na Sionna are proposing to do a full restoration on the ruin and to run workshops during the course of the restoration. Olive Carey of Duchas na Sionna joined us on air to tell us more.

After the 10 am News we were joined in studio by Avril Collentine, Legal Advice with Cahir Solicitors, Conveyancing Solicitor, Cahir & Co Solicitors as we discussed buying a second-hand home.
