Morning Focus Monday September 24

Residents in South-East Clare say they’re disappointed but not surprised at Clare County Council’s not to alter its planned route of the Northern Distributor Road.
The local authority has published it’s preferred route corridor for the road, linking Knockalisheen with the Old Limerick/Dublin Road, via Ardnacrusha, Parteen and UL
The newly published corridor is the same as was published in January, despite receiving over 400 submissions from the public in the interim period
The Council insists the peoples’ views have been taken on board

On Monday’s Morning Focus we heard from some of those residents

John Cooke spoke with Sean McGovern, PRO of the Northern Distributor Road Concerned Residents’ Association and Donal O’Riain is a local Historian and Author in Parteen
He has been living there for fifty 50 years and says the road will have a devastating effect on locals
He was shocked to find out at the public consultation in Limerick earlier this year that the Phase two of the Northern Distributor Road would cut through himself and his wife Alice’s four-bedroom home, Tuairín na Molt at Ballykeelaun
Martina Duffy from Derrynafadda in Clonlara also voiced her concerns about the route of the road.
