On Monday’s Morning Focus John Cooke spoke with some Clare people who welcomed China’s Vice-President Xi Jinping during his visit to the county over the weekend
The next premier of China visited the dairy farm of Sixmilebridge farmer James and Maura Lynch and their family where he saw the suckling calves and had a cup of tea, James said the visit was a tremendous success.

Famous Clare hurley maker John Torpey also had a word with John
He was in Croke Park yesterday to show the Chinese Vice President how to test a hurley
Thirty-eight million Chinese people travel overseas each year, with two million of these going to Europe. Ireland attracts about 100,000 Chinese visitors annually, and I believe there is serious potential to boost this number
The entire visit will be broadcast throughout China, with several camera crews travelling with the Chinese delegation. This means an extremely positive vision of Ireland can be delivered to a potential audience of more than one billion people.
During his time in Co. Clare the Vice President will go to see the Cliffs of Moher, attend a medieval banquet in Bunratty and visit a farm in Sixmilebridge.
Dr Vincent Cunnane, CEO of Shannon Development and Mayor of Clare Pat Hayes discussed the significance and potential outcome of the visit.

Corofin based Sinead Ni Garvey attempted to stage a Free Tibet protest at the Cliffs of Moher but was removed from the area when the delegation arrived.
