Ahead of the Bank Holiday weekend, a packed Morning Focus looked at events coming up around the county, and chatted to Clare’s Hospice Sunflower Hero, Councillor Mary Howard.

The show opened with a look at disruption coming down the track for those using the rail service from Clare. Limerick Station will be closed for works, meaning that bus transfers will be offered to passengers coming from Clare. Gavin spoke to Barry Kenny from Iarnród Éireann who explained the reason for the disruption.

On the Bank Holiday, many of us enjoy a drink. However, the problem of binge drinking continues to escalate in Ireland with the Bank Holiday a time when people can go overboard. Gavin spoke to Dr Liam Twomey, Chief Medical Officer with Drinkaware.

As Donald Trump prepares to withdraw the US from the Paris accord on climate change, Gavin got reaction from Green Party leader, Eamon Ryan.

The show then revisited the launch of a landmark album 50 years ago this week – Sergeant Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, by the Beatles. Clare FM’s Ben Sweeney produced a special, musical feature while the station’s own music aficionado, Brian Flynn, dropped in to studio to share his top tracks. Listen back below:

Derrick Lynch reported from the Clare camp ahead of the hurler’s meeting with Limerick on Sunday next in the Munster Senior Hurling Semi-Final.

County Arts Officer, Siobhán Mulcahy, came in for her weekly round-up of arts and cultural events.

The show then heard from Paul Brooks of the Tuamgraney Development Association who gave a preview of the forthcoming community weekend festival taking place over the Bank Holiday weekend.
