Morning Focus 09/03/17

This edition of Morning Focus opened with a discussion with FF TD Timmy Dooley who’s flagged concerns about restrictions which HIQA have imposed on St Joseph’s Hospital in Ennis. An order not to take new admissions is being challenged by the HSE.

We then heard of efforts to clamp down on illegal parking around Cusack Park for the big hurling match between Clare and Dublin on Sunday. Gavin was joined on the line by Joe Cooney a county councillor and chairperson of the Clare GAA County Board.

Shirley Busteed then joined Gavin from the Farmer’s Journal to discuss land prices in Clare.

Gavin then heard concerns from the ICMSA over the threatened closure of rural post offices. He was joined by Clare chairperson, Martin McMahon.

Gabriella Hanrahan then joined Gavin in studio. She’d gotten in touch with the show over the Mother and Baby Homes controversy.

The RNLI and the GAA have joined forces to reduce the number of deaths by drowning. Gavin spoke with Charlie Kilrush, Kilrush Lifeboat Press Officer.

Comic book artist Declan Shalvey, who hails from Ennis then joined Gavin on the line from Dublin to chat about his new graphic novel ‘Savage Town’. It’s set in Limerick and deals with gangland crime. Listen back below
