This edition of Morning Focus took on something of a spooky theme, with items about hauntings and aliens.

Gavin spoke to Eamonn Ansboro an astronomer who’s involved in a project to find other life forms through breakthrough communications technology. Eamonn’s based in County Roscommon and working on a major project with SETI. Listen back below:

The show opened, as always with a look at hard news. Juno McEnroe of The Irish Examiner joined Gavin to discuss the row over the Water Committee report which is threatening to bring down the government.

William Cahir of Cahir and Co. Solicitors, Ennis, was Gavin’s next guest. He’s the new President of Ennis Chamber of Commerce. He joined Gavin to express concerns about the motorway service area planned for the M18 close to Newmarket on Fergus.

The sale of cannabis oil at Eats of Eden in Limerick has skyrocketed on foot of recent efforts to have medicinal cannabis introduced in Ireland. Gavin spoke to the proprietor Cillín Cleere.

Talk then turned to the position of the embattled Garda Commissioner as FG Deputy Joe Carey called on Noirín O’Sullivan to be open and honest in her answers to the cross-party Justice Committee.

Councillor Pat Daly an Ennis FF representative is chairperson of the Association of Local Government (AILG). As its conference got underway in Ennis, he joined Gavin along with Tommy Moylan, from Nenagh, Chairperson of the AILG.

Dr Simon Berrow was Gavin’s next guest to discuss a recent spike in dolphin strandings in Clare and along the western seaboard.
