Storms Hammer Clare’s Coast

As 2014 got off to a stormy start, coastal communities like Lahinch, Quilty, Doolin, Liscannor, Carrigaholt and Kilbaha are still counting the cost and planning a major clean up which will cost millions.
John Cooke spoke to Antoin O’Looney as he watched the massive waves batter his pub in Lahinch, and also met local resprestatives, businesses, onlookers and surfers to hear their thoughts on the devastating storms.
In Liscannor, he met local residents concerned that a breach of the sea wall could drive them out of their homes, while in Quilty, John O’Connor told Clare FM of the flooding nightmare endured by his family and neighbours.
