A New Lease Of Life For Macra Na Feirme In West Clare

With increasing focus on the generational shift in farming, there has never been a better time to have the conversation about younger people in the sector.

Macra na Feirme is the youth farming organisation that is dedicated to people up to the age of 35 who come from all kinds of backgrounds.

After a gap of several years, the group is now back in action in West Clare, proving that interest is returning there.

Clare Chair Cillian Griffey speaks on this week’s podcast (from 14:00) about the new Kilrush branch – and why people shouldn’t be put off because of the farming label.

Also this week, we’ve your mart report from Ennis (12:26) and Paul Mullins from Teagasc talks about the ASSAP programme in Clare (1:16)
