The Monday Sports Panel – Morning Focus – 09/04/18

As usual on a Monday, Gavin hosted the ‘Sports Panel’. This week he was joined by Clare FAI delegate, Jim Madden. Together, they talked about all things sports in the local area.

In particular they spoke about a local football match where Newmarket Celtic and the Pike Rovers went head to head.

Newmarket Celtic’s manager says allowing Pike Rovers to get the upper hand cost them dearly in their semi-final.

Liam Murphy was speaking after his side were knocked out of the FAI Junior Cup by Pike Rovers yesterday, as they vied to become the first Clare team to reach the final of the prestigious competition.

Pike Rovers led 1-0 at half time and doubled their lead early in the second half.

Two Stephen Kelly headers put Newmarket Celtic back in contention.

The game went to extra time where Pike Rovers eventually won by 3-2.
