Cash Use Falls, So Will More Banks Close As A Result?

Three-quarters of consumers are now using contactless payments at least once a week, leading to a reduction in the usage of cash.

As a result, withdrawals are down by 56% and more people are also using their smartphone for paying for products and services.

Chief executive of the Banking and Payments Federation, Brian Hayes, says their findings show cash may not be king for much longer.
