The Emergency Department at the region’s main hospital remains extremely busy at the week begins.

The latest figures from nurses’ union, the INMO, shows there were 114 patients on trolleys at University Hospital Limerick this morning, 48 of those in the Emergency Department.

It comes as it’s been revealed that over 2,100 patients were left waiting on trollies at the Dooradoyle facility throughout the month of September, more than double the number of any other hospital in the country.
