Motorists In Clare Urged To Drive With Caution Following Storm Force Winds Overnight

Motorists in Clare are being advised to drive with extreme caution this morning following storm force winds overnight.

Emergency services received a number of callouts overnight to deal with fallen trees, and while it’s understood the vast majority have been cleared, there could still be issues in some parts.

Meanwhile, a number of homes and businesses remain without power following the strong winds, including 41 in the Kilkee area and 25 in Miltown Malbay.

The ESB says crews are working to restore power by three o’clock this afternoon.

Elsewhere, crews from Galway City Council overnight to clear flooding and debris, and have been joined by additional crews since 5am.

A status orange wind warning was in place for there and in Mayo for a time last night.
