US Ambassador To Ireland Plays Down Fears Trump’s ‘America First’ Policy Will Damage Ireland

The acting US Ambassador to Ireland has played down fears that President Trump’s policies could deter American firms from investing in Ireland.

Trump has pursued an ‘America First’ policy during his time in the White House, and has publicly criticised firms who manufacture products abroad instead of at home.

Some of those criticisms have seen him name-check Ireland, with the most recent of those coming earlier this month, but Ambassador Reece Smith has told Clare FM that he doesn’t think the comments have had a negative impact:
