It’s claimed residents and businesses in the Turnpike area of Ennis are “up in arms” over plans to ban parking along the road.

More than 200 have signed a petition opposing plans to install 46 bollards and to reduce green space in nearby residential areas to make way for a 15-space car park.

A number of meetings have been held over the matter locally, and businesses were last week individually shown the proposals.

These plans will be shown to Ennis Councillors tomorrow, before the monthly meeting of the Municipal District, where the matter is due to be raised.

Ennis Fine Gael Councillor Mary Howard says residents and businesses feel they’ve been kept in the dark over the plans.
