NTA Must Take “Real Look” At Clare Bus Controversy

The National Transport Authority is being urged to take “a real look” at what it’s doing to Clare Bus.

It follows confirmation in recent days that Feakle-based Clare Bus has lost the contract to operate the service that it has been running for the past 17 years.

The NTA says the decision was reached when Clare Bus was unable to conclude contract negotiations, leading to it putting alternative arrangements in place “on an interim basis”.

But concern is emerging in Clare that this will be a more permanent fixture and local Fianna Fáil Councillor Pat Hayes says the decision must be reversed, particularly in light of the national crisis currently ongoing.
