Garda in Ennistymon are warning of severe delays heading towards Lahinch this afternoon.
With temperatures in Clare this afternoon are reaching the low 20s, people in their droves are heading for the coast.
Motorists are warned to expect tailbacks heading out the Inagh Road, while Lahinch itself is at a standstill.
Further traffic is expected in the evening time as people begin to make their way home.
