There’s a state of emergency in the US state of Virginia – as police try to calm violent clashes.

There are reports that one person has died after a car drove into crowds at a white supremacist rally in the US.

The Mayor of Charlottesville Virginia has tweeted to say “a life has been lost” after the demonstrators clashed with anti-fascist activists.

Violent clashes broke out between anti-fascist protesters and white nationalists – including supporters of the Ku Klux Klan.

They’re protesting against a plan to remove a statue of a Confederate General from a public park.
