763,000 passengers passed through Shannon in the first six months of the year, an annual increase of 36,000.

Last year, the same CSO report recorded a fall-off in passenger numbers at Shannon although, at the time, the Airport pointed out that they did not take into account transit business.

Traffic levels so far in 2018 are in line with those of two years ago.

London is a popular destination from Shannon, with heathrow, Stansted and Gatwick Airports all in its top airports for arrivals and departures – New York’s JFK is third, with Boston’s Logan Airport fifth.

The Airport also handled 358 tonnes of freight in the second quarter of this year.
