Gardaí in Clare says it’s critical that drivers take measures to ensure their safety, and the safety of others, this festive period.
As New Year’s celebrations get underway, there will be increased Garda checkpoints on the roads and Gardaí are advising motorists to leave your car at home and take alternative transport.
People are also being advised not to walk home if they’ve been drinking, as figures show that almost one third of pedestrians killed on the roads have consumed alcohol.
