Funding Boost Will Make “A Huge Difference” To Midwest Survivors Of Sexual Abuse

Rape Crisis Midwest says a 40,000 euro boost in Government funding will make a huge difference to survivors of sexual abuse and violence throughout the region.

It’s one of 16 organisations across the country to benefit from a 23.8 million euro package aimed at combating domestic, sexual and gender based violence.

The Organisation’s Executive Director says that while the announcement was unexpected, it will help bolster services.

In recent years, the Ennis office has been forced to close twice due to a shortfall in funding.

Miriam Duffy says a decision will be made on what services will benefit from the funding boost in the coming weeks and she believes they’ll be able to make a real difference in the coming months.
