Public Asked To Avoid Huge Galway Forest Fire

Gardaí are warning people to stay out of the Cloosh Valley in County Galway as a forest fire continues to blaze in the area.

Thousands of acres have been destroyed by the flames, despite major efforts to control them.

Coillte, the Air Corps and local fire services have been dumping water from helicopters.

But members of the public are apparently making it difficult for emergency services to get into the forest and are in danger of getting trapped.

Local farmer Kevin McDonagh says the community had to try put out the blaze without sufficient resources.
