A well known figure in Clare political circles has died.
Michael Torpey, who lived in Tulla and was a teacher by profession, passed away last night following a short illness.
He stood for Fianna Fáil in the local elections in the 1980’s, and was a tally man for many years, while he was also a political pundit for Clare FM.
He’ll be laid to rest on Sunday, following Funeral Mass at 11 o’clock in St Peter and Paul’s Church, Tulla.
Former Clare Labour TD Michael McNamara knew him well and says he’ll be sadly missed.
