Minister Calls On Education Dept To Step Up And Fund Lisdoonvarna School

Clare’s Junior Minister is calling on the Department of Education to step up and provide increased resources for the national school in Lisdoonvarna.

Minister of State Pat Breen visited the Direct Provision Centre in the North Clare town yesterday, and also announced 90,000 euro in funding for the local community creche, as well as a 20,000 euro grant for the Clare Immigrant Support Centre.

Concerns have been raised within the community since news broke that the King Thomond Hotel would be accepting people seeking asylum, about a lack of resources in the town to deal with the influx of people.
